Tiger Woods on the 2014 British Open in Hoylake, England

Tiger Woods having a rough go at the British Open in Hoylake, England this weekend.  “Woods shot a spiffy 69 in the opening round of the British Open to make many around these parts believe he would be able to contend only four months after back surgery.”(GolfChannel.com)

Since then, nothing has gone his way in the British tournament.

“After a 77 on Friday that included a birdie on the last hole just to make the cut, Woods shot a 73 on Saturday that included five birdies, a bogey, a double bogey and a triple bogey. For Woods, this is now the 17th straight weekend round at a major without a score in the 60s.

“Made a lot of mistakes,” Woods said. “On top of that I missed a lot of shots for opportunities for birdies and consequently I’m 3 over par.” (GolfChannel.com)

On the ups, Rory McIlroy is looking good and even with a slight hiccup is still the top leader.

“For the first time all week, Rory McIlroy looked a bit vulnerable at Royal Liverpool.

A shot up against a grandstand. Another into a bunker.

Two straight bogeys took a slice out of McIlroy’s commanding lead in the British Open, but he still led Sergio Garcia by three strokes in the final round Sunday.” (abcnews.go.com)
